President’s Recovery Priorities collaborating with civil society on the recovery process

".... we all have a stake in this process, not only as beneficiaries, but as originators and agents of the change we want to see in our nation.”

A special consultation meeting on Tuesday 14 June, to discuss the next stage of the President’s Recovery Priorities with Civil Society Organisations and religious leaders, will also explore how they can contribute to monitoring and evaluating the outcomes.

Planning, delivering and evaluating the President’s Recovery Priorities has been characterised by widespread inclusion. A regional tour in February which captured the opinions and feedback of almost 300 Paramount Chiefs, village and tribal Headmen, Councillors, District and other community stakeholders was followed by a consultation meeting in May for District and local government representatives.

Last week leading civil society representatives met with the Chief of Staff and team to suggest ways of deepening their engagement. The meeting on Tuesday 14 June, which targets almost 100 participants from CSOs and religious groups, continues that process.

Later in the month a further regional tour will canvas the views of traditional leaders on the second phase of the President’s Recovery Priorities.

Commenting on the extensive process of inclusion, Chief of Staff – Saidu Conton-Sesay said: “The wide selection of stakeholders from all over Sierra Leone, who have made an important contribution to planning and evaluating the President’s Recovery Priorities, means that we all have a stake in the process, not only as beneficiaries, but as originators and agents of the change we want to see in our nation.”
